Announcing the Solitary Confinement Resource Center
A Comprehensive, Searchable Collection of Resources on Solitary Confinement in the United States
The Solitary Confinement Resource Center is a curated, fully searchable database of media, research, firsthand accounts, court and policy documents, and advocacy tools on the use of solitary confinement in U.S. prisons, jails, and juvenile detention facilities.
Although some 80,000 people are held in isolation in the United States on any given day, solitary confinement units and supermax prisons long functioned as virtual black sites, hidden from the public, policymakers, and the press. Today, despite the best efforts of a system that resists transparency, the body of information on solitary confinement is growing, but it remained scattered and difficult to access.

Please look into Greene Sci Prison in waynesburg Pa. They have men living in solitary for life. They never see the light of day. They are verbally abused by the guards. They have no sound on their camaras . They are getting away with torture. They use mace in the hole with people who have lung problems and they dont care. I have complained to Deputy D. So many times it goes in one ear and out the other. GREEN is Pa death camp

My son is in the California State Prison. On November 29, 2017l8 the Judge ordered my son to take medication for schizophrenia my son do not hear voices he may have depression and may even be bipolar because he’s been in prison for a long time we’re fighting to get him out but they want to put him on high doses of medications so that he can not be coherent can you please refer me to a attorney my son and fighting his case now we’re now ready for the federal level Appeals we have some money and we’re looking for a attorney that can help prisoners with mental-health disabilities.Please how can I help my son against this weapon that the prison in using called tranquilizers.Thank you you are appreciated

Members of Social Workers Against Solitary Confinement (SWASC) will promote it to social work professionals, faculty, students and related organizations, legislators, advocates etc. if it hasn’t already been done by Unlock the Box Campaign members. Unfortunately, our website is down for maintenance – hopefully it will be up by November 15.
